It's interesting how each Star Wars series with new or lesser known characters look so good and the ones with the main series with familiar characters struggle.
Lest we forget this is a Prequel to a sequel and a sequel to a prequel. Please keep the local politics out of it for the love of God. Overarching moral themes make great fiction.
For example: The Empire was an improvement on many levels to the hopelessly corrupt Republic. However improvements made the wrong way (FE through totalitarianism), are not worth the cost. You could even ask a harder question like, what is the right thing to do when some want despotism, and others want freedom?
Reread the Grimm's fairy tales. They explore ideas like: Be careful what you wish for. That's what make's them timeless.
